Renewable energy is an energy source that is naturally replenished by the earth itself, this means it has little or no impact on the environment.
Therefore useful energy can be extracted from these sources and used to heat and power our daily lives.

This form of energy generation is cheaper and less harmful to the environment than traditional energy generation (for example a coal fired power station). Renewable energy generation significantly reduces carbon emissions.

There are many ways renewable energy can be extracted or generated. The most common ones are Solar panels, wind turbines, hydro electric generation and ground source heat pumps.

Here are some of the forms of renewable energy generation, however this list is by no means exhaustive as new technologies are continually emerging...

Ground source
Uses underground pipe work to transfer the natural heat from the ground around your building via a heat exchanger and a compressor into you’re building to heat it.

Hydro electric generation
This is where there is a flow of water falling through a height, the energy can be extracted from the falling water using a water turbine to generate electricity that can power your property and even be sold back to the national grid.

Wind power
Uses a turbine powered by large blades that turn when the wind passes over them to generate electricity that can power your property and be sold back to the national grid.

Solar
Solar can be split into two categories, firstly thermal solar panels can convert the suns warmth into heating for your building and then photovoltaic solar panels can convert the suns energy into electricity that can power your home and any excess electricty can be sold back to the national grid.

Tidal/wave
Energy generated in this way is predominantly suited to much larger offshore installations that generate large amounts of electricity using the seas tidal flow or the motion of the waves to turn turbines this electricity is put into the national grid.
